Our Community

Kpoi-ete/Vakpor is a twin community inhabited by people, most of  whom are offspring of fishermen who had migrated from the southeastern part of Ghana (Anlos) in early 40s.

The fishermen were engaged in the type of fishing, known as dragnet or adran as in Ga language. They also farmed alongside the fishing.

By the early 70s, the economy of the community was booming so much so that fish and food stuff such as cassava, maize and vegetables were in so much abundance to feed the local markets in Kpone, Prampram, Tema and Ashaiman.

The economic development of the community started deterioration when unserviceable vessels were dumped along the coastline.  This effectively killed the fishing business.  As if that were not enough, the farming business, which  then became the mainstay of the local economy, also started having challenges like lack of adequate rain, inadequate financial support, and lack of technical support.

What broke the camels back is the conversion of farmlands into settlements. This has brutally brought the local economy to its knees.

2. Farming.  Conversion of farmlands into human settlements.

3. Water. (a) Destruction of pipeline as a result of road construction. (b) Drying up of the Yoduey dugout dam as a result of silting over the years and the blocking of the source of intake by developers.

4. Inadequate places of convenience.

5. Lack of health facilities.
